Dance Programs For All Ages
Dance classes for children 3 to 5 years old
An introduction to dance and creative movement! Beginning dance Students learn the basics of classroom management and work on skills targeted for developing bodies. Through our children's dance program, dancers practice hand-eye coordination, explore movement at different "levels," and learn basic skills such as balance, isolations, and tempo. This class gives young students a head-start preparation for more advanced skills. This children's class builds a foundation of skills and knowledge through fun and exploration, and it encourages and supports a love of dance! Students pretend to dip their toes in a pool and stand like a flamingo while learning simple ballet, lyrical, and jazz technique.
Dance Classes for children 5 to 8 years old
This dance class offered for children ages 5 to 8 encourages the development of strong, healthy bodies, and prepares the dancers for more advanced ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern dance techniques. Our skilled instructors work with the students on coordinating arms and legs together, combining steps into more difficult patterns, and strengthening basic dance skills. This class is the perfect introduction to fast-paced jazz combos and fundamental ballet principles!
Classes for Dancers 9 and older
Join our levels program for a well-rounded, meaningful dance education. The Henry Academy of Dance follows the world-renowned Vaganova ballet technique, developing dancers who are physically and mentally prepared for a lifetime of dance. This program successfully prepares students for prestigious ballet finishing schools, university programs, and professional careers in dance. Our school of dance has successfully prepared students for programs such as the Harid Conservatory, Open World Dance Foundation, Master Ballet Academy, Kirov Academy of Ballet, State Street Ballet, and many more.
Touring and Performance Dance Companies
Our school offers Touring and Performance Dance Companies! Each year, serious dance students may audition for our Touring and Performing Companies. Touring Companies travel throughout Northern Colorado performing jazz, lyrical, and contemporary pieces at schools, festivals, and community events. They finish each touring season with a performance at the Children's Hospital in Aurora, CO. The Ballet Performance Company prepares a "mini-ballet" every year. These students are given the opportunity to showcase both classical ballet works as well as character and Historic Dance.

Beginning or experienced adult dancers are welcome at the Henry Academy of Dance! Join our school's ballet levels program and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of dance at any age.

Our Philosophy
WE HONOR the long-standing tradition of classical ballet training, and preserve the methods of the Russian technique in our dance school. Instruction of complimentary styles such as jazz, lyrical, and contemporary dance is supported by a well-founded, consistent ballet background.
WE BUILD our dance classes to support the current physical and technical ability of our dancers. The children's and beginner's dance classes introduce basic body awareness and control. These classes also provide a foundation of skills and vocabulary for future advanced dance classes. Older students master precise dance technique within our school's carefully designed syllabus that demands the proper development of the musculature.
WE CREATE opportunities for lifelong success as a dancer. In our dance school's advanced levels, our students are held to, and perform at, the highest technical, professional and artistic standards expected for finishing schools, universities, and professional companies.
WE VALUE quality training and the individual success of each and every one of our students! In our school, students benefit from highly trained instructors who have studied dance pedagogy and continue their own education. As a result, our dancers develop a deep understanding of technique, dance history, artistry, and a lifelong love and appreciation of dance and the arts.

Spring Schedule 2025: January 6 - May 23
-Preschool is open to students aged 3-4 years and includes creative and exploratory movement as well as preliminary jazz and tap technique
-Combo is open to students in kindergarten through third grade (ages 5-9) and includes creative movement as well as beginning level jazz, lyrical, and tap technique
-Levels 1 through 8 are open to students in third grade and above (8+ years) and include ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, and tap technique skills and choreography
*All of our classes, Preschool through Level 8, participate in our studio-wide Spectacular productions held in December, May, and August each season!
